Parents invited to town hall

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Dysart Unified School District is seeking parent and community input into its strategic planning endeavor through a community town hall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Willow Canyon High School, 17901 W. Lundberg St., Surprise.

The Dysart Town Hall will provide parents and community members the opportunity to hear and provide input into the work that has been completed by community Partners in Planning teams throughout the summer.

In January, the district began a critical strategic plan process.

The goal for Dysart planning is to identify a clear and articulated path of excellence for educating students.  Strategic plan consultants from Progress Education Group were selected to assist in this planning process.

The community completed the first steps in planning which began with Progress Education reviewing all pertinent district data.  The consultants then created and implemented a survey, and conducted focus groups for the strategic plan process.

A review and analysis of the survey and focus group data began the second phase in the planning process.  The analyzed survey and focus group information was presented to the DUSD Governing Board in April and then to parents, staff and students in May through a series of community meetings.

PIP teams were organized in June to review the survey and focus group results, and identify the main focus areas each stakeholder group felt were key to the Dysart Strategic Plan.

The Dysart Town Hall will be facilitated by Tom Jandris, CEO of Progress Education Group, and will provide parents and community members the opportunity to review the work of the PIP teams and provide input into the Dysart Strategic Plan direction.

That information will be utilized to form action teams to accomplish goals over a one to three year period. The action teams will consist of members of the PIP teams, representatives from employee group organizations, representatives from the councils and community leaders.

Dysart community members are encouraged to attend. For information on the Dysart Town Hall, call 623-876-7169.
